Mario J. Paredes was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Advocate Community Providers in April 2015. As CEO, Mr. Paredes is responsible for long- and short-term strategy and planning as well as building key relationships to ensure successful implementation.
During his tenure at Merrill Lynch, Mr. Paredes was the National Director of the U.S. Hispanic Market for Multicultural & Diversified Business Development and Executive Vice President of Business Development. He has served as a White House appointee for Latin America under President Ronald Reagan and as Commissioner for the City Charter Revision of New York City under Mayor Ed Koch. He was appointed by John Cardinal O’Connor, Archbishop of New York, as the Coordinator of the Catholic Hospital Health Care Network for the Archdiocese of New York. Mr. Paredes has served as consultant to the Latin American Commission to the Vatican and on the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops’ Committee for Justice and Peace.
A native of Chile, Mr. Paredes became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1975. He earned his Master’s in Philosophy at the Catholic University of Argentina and did postgraduate studies at New York University and Georgetown University.
